North Carolina has addressed its backcourt depth concerns by landing two portal transfers at the guard position, shoring up a key weakness ahead of ACC play.
North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis has addressed the Tar Heels' most pressing roster need, landing two transfer portal guards to shore up backcourt depth ahead of what projects as a grueling ACC schedule in 2026-27.
The first addition is a combo guard from a mid-major program who averaged 16.8 points and 5.2 assists last season, shooting 38% from three. He projects as an immediate starter and addresses UNC's turnover issues from last season.
The second addition is a defensive specialist — a 6'3" guard who ranked in the top 10 nationally in steals per game last season. His arrival gives Davis a versatile defensive option who can guard both guard positions.
With these additions, BasketBoss projects UNC's scoring margin to hold at +16.2 — fourth in D1 — despite losing two starters to graduation. The Tar Heels open as the projected No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament behind Duke.
