The Wildcats have been among the most active programs in the transfer portal this offseason, adding three high-impact players to address roster needs heading into 2026-27.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has been among the most aggressive coaches in the 2026 transfer portal cycle, adding three high-impact transfers to address the Wildcats' roster needs heading into the 2026-27 season.
The biggest addition is a 6'8" power forward from a Big East program who averaged 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds last season. His arrival fills the void left by two Wildcats who declared for the NBA Draft, and immediately projects as a starter in Kentucky's frontcourt rotation.
Kentucky also added a veteran point guard from the ACC with two years of starting experience, addressing what was the team's most glaring weakness last season — turnover rate and late-game decision-making. The third addition is a wing shooter who connected on 41% of his three-point attempts last season.
With these additions, BasketBoss projects Kentucky's scoring margin to improve from +11.8 (their final 2025-26 mark) to +16.5 for 2026-27 — a jump that reflects both the quality of the portal additions and the continuity of their returning core.
Kentucky opens as the No. 3 team in BasketBoss projections and the consensus preseason favorite to win the SEC regular season title.
